Update January 20:

The "design" has been revealed.

First reporting:

Stunned Patriots Point board members heard a proposal today for the construction of a male counterpart to the Statue of Liberty on Charleston Harbor.

The offbeat proposal came from the president of the Atlanta-based National Monuments Foundation, Rodney Cook. Not only did Cook pitch his idea for the $100 - $150 million statue, but came complete with a rendering of a huge male figure in a golden hue towering over the city’s skyline.

A more rounded plan followed which would commemorate the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Ordinance of Secession in Charleston. The S.C. Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans proposed the construction of an 11.5-foot-tall, 5-foot-wide monument for which the group has already raised a quarter of the funding for.
