College sports take heat for not bringing home the bacon

Riffing off a recent letter by two college leaders, The Post and Courier writes how college sports are not only not financial mainstays of local colleges, but can often do more financial hurt than harm.

In that editorial, the paper references a letter they reprinted by William E. Kirwan and R. Gerald Turner, but the paper didn't put it online. You can read that letter over here.

As much as I love watching college football, I've always wondered how much the current state of it really relates to higher education.
