Horry County Council passes budget with tax increase, changes
This post will be updated as more reports and information come online.
The big focus of the meeting was on helping Coast RTA but Councilman Foxworth didn't feel like it was right to blame the three tenths of a mil hike solely based on the Coast RTA. The budget didn't pass unanimously. WPDE has the initial information.
The Sun News has posted their in-depth coverage of the RTA discussion. That can be read here.
There was also a tweet from Herald and Chronicle reporter Amanda Kelly that Coastal Uncorked will not receive Accomodations Tax money next year and it will be allocated to Horry County Police beach services.
Lisa Bourcier, spokesperson for Horry County, called into the WRNN show this morning and outlined these highlights from the meeting (in addition to the Coast RTA funding mentioned above):
- Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development was given a 5 year funding plan with performance and termination conditions.
- An agreement to provide police dispatch service to the CIty of Conway and provide the infrastructure for that.
- County legislative redistricting was reviewed and tweaked once more.
