Gov. Mark Sanford opposed the notion that government and not private dollars were being spent to fuel a wind research site at the Clemson Restoration Institute in North Charleston, still the funding made it past the vote.

The Charleston Regional Business Journal has the story on the vote and the latest stauts of $98 million project; read about it here.

The hope is that site will attract a permanent presence of wind turbine manufacturers in North Charleston, and that the massive turbines made will be sent out through the port of Charleston.
