How to save Charleston's rotting historic homes

Saying Charleston's preservationists have helped save other deteriorating regions of the historic downtown, The Post and Courier is urging the groups to find creative ways to mandate -- and perhaps fund -- the restoration of other areas of town.

The piece bounces off a column by Robert Behre a couple weeks back.

Of course things are never so easy as simply raising funding to fix old buildings. You have also consider how it affects social and class change through raising property values and, moreover, its often hard to secure rights to do anything when a dozen or more people hold the deed as heirs property.

Still a very worthy goal.
