Sweet gum trees could soon be axe-ready in Charleston

The wheels of government are already turning in the City of Charleston to fast track the removal sweet gum trees from a list of protected trees.
It's a cause that 91-year-old Russell Horres of West Ashley championed after he lost taste of the 70-foot Liquidambar styraciflua in his yard.
