To be clear, there is some doubt just how accurate U.S. House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn's remarks are that Michelle Obama is being blocked from visiting South Carolina due to its "hostile environment."

But the fact that such a threat can even be perceived to be true says a heck of a lot about things in our state.

And it's such a notion that inspired The Post and Courier's Brian Hicks to pen a piece titled "S.C. needs to stop the stupidity."

Quite.
