C of C senior headed to D.C. for behind-the-scenes look at politics

College of Charleston Senior Patrice Meredith is headed to D.C. for Barack Obama's inauguration, but, unlike the rest of us, she will be getting a "backstage view into the inauguration."

Meredith is taking part in the Presidential Inauguration Seminar which focuses "on the formation of a new executive administration, the role of the media and the critical issues and events that surround the transfer of power. The seminar includes a combination of lectures, site visits, tours and special events including a reception at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce with Bob Schieffer of CBS News."

But, before you get too envious, the program costs $1,700 without housing.

Head over to the College of Charleston's press release for all the details, or to Campaign 2008 for details on the program.

The program runs January 10-20. Parts of the seminar are to be aired on C-SPAN.
