Update August 6: While the absence of the seemingly front runner Texas Governor Rick Perry was felt, the event seems to have been a success, shedding more light on the views of the candidates.
If you missed the debate, you can watch CNN's recap up top and get more video clips over here (I haven't yet seen a full post of the debate online.)
And you've got to love CNN's intro on that post: "Five of the Republican Party's leading presidential contenders traveled to South Carolina on Labor Day to kiss the ring of tea party kingmaker Jim DeMint."
First reporting: While Senator Jim DeMint continues to make up his mind about which candidate to support in the 2012 presidential election, he will host a presidential forum in Columbia on Monday (September 5.)
The debate will be broadcast by CNN, SC ETV, and TownHall.com.
Featured will be all the big names: Minnesota's Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Texas Representative Ron Paul, Texas Governor Rick Perry, and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.
DeMint and two other panelists will asks questions from candidates one at a time at the 3 p.m. debate. The other panelists are Representative Steve King (R-IA), and Dr. Robert P. George, founder of the American Principles Project and McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence at Princeton University.
ETV will re-broadcast the debate at 8 p.m.
The forum is sponsored by the American Principles Project.
