Update October 14:

Today is the day that Joyner and a group of attorneys will ask for pardons for two of his maternal great uncles who were wrongfully put do death by the state of South Carolina nearly 100 years ago.

First reporting:

Nationally syndicated radio host Tom Joyner is seeking a pardon for his two great-uncles who were wrongfully executed in 1915 on the charge of murdering an elderly Confederate Army veteran.

Joyner learned of the fate of his great-uncles during filming of the PBS documentary African American Lives 2.

If a pardon is granted after the October 14th hearing, it would be South Carolina's first awarded posthumously in a capital murder case.
