Despite many a South Carolinian's distaste with the Governor Mark Sanford, the man is still plenty popular across the United States for his principled stand against the stimulus.

And so when Sanford went on "Hardball" on Thursday, May 14, Chris Matthews wasted little effort to get Sanford to say he was running for office.

No confirmation, but a less fervent denial than in months past.
