2011 Charleston Krispy Kreme Donut Run

Run a 5K race and eat a dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts in one hour. Sound counterproductive? Just remember it’s all for a good cause. The second annual Charleston Krispy Kreme Donut Run/Walk is benefiting Metanoia, which invests in the neighborhood assets to build leaders, establish quality housing and generate economic development in North Charleston’s most vulnerable neighborhoods, andSideWalk Chalk, which helps Charleston County create stories, art and life.

The race begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 16 at St. Andrews School, 30 Chadwick Drive in Charleston. Individuals run to the Krispy Kreme and back. Those registered as “challengers” must eat their doughnuts and complete the run in less than one hour. Those registered as a team split the 12 doughnuts. Casual joggers/walkers can attempt to complete the entire race, eating as many doughnuts as they wish. The individual and the complete team that returns to the line first will win. Strollers and pets are welcome.

Registration is $25; $20 for college students; $7 for children (no T-shirt); and $5 for a leashed pet. Register online atwww.CharlestonDonutRun.com. Deadline for online and mail-in registration is April 9. Race day registration is 7-8:30 a.m. for $35 and does not guarantee a T-shirt.
