Be Inspired this April: RSFH Healing Boutique Celebrates Life

Free event offers information and relaxation for those on the cancer journey

CHARLESTON, S.C. (March 22, 2012) – The Healing Boutique invites cancer patients, support groups, caregivers and survivors to enjoy an evening of healing, support, information and relaxation. The Healing Boutique’s Be Inspired open house will take place April 19, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. in the Roper St. Francis Cancer Center on the campus of Bon Secours St. Francis hospital in Charleston.

Be Inspired also celebrates the Healing Boutique’s one-year anniversary. This special evening will feature:

  • An exclusive art exhibit

  • Solutions for hair loss

  • Informational displays

  • Skin care for post-radiation treatments and nutrition information

  • One-on-one consultations with experts on post-surgery product fittings

  • Information on clinical cancer therapies and lymphedema management

Ken Burger, a local writer, Charleston celebrity and a cancer survivor, will also be on hand to talk with guests and sign his books.

Certified oncology care experts will be on hand to answer questions about the cancer journey and will share ideas about ways to feel confident, inspired and uplifted during that process, and on life after treatment.

The traveling art exhibit – Oncology on Canvas – is sponsored by Lilly and will be displayed courtesy of Charleston Hematology Oncology Associates. The artwork was created by cancer patients and survivors and captures the journey that those living with cancer go through. Refreshments and entertainment will also be provided.

“Our doors at the Healing Boutique and the Cancer Center are open to all for this event. We want value and care for patients, family members, caregivers or anyone touched by cancer,” said Scott Broome, director for oncology services, Roper St. Francis Healthcare. ”The art exhibit alone is inspiring, but we hope many people join us for an evening that offers relaxing entertainment and the ease of only traveling to one location to get answers to many important cancer care questions.”

Reservations are not required for the event; however, calling ahead to schedule one-on-one time with one of the Healing Boutique experts is encouraged. To reserve time, please call the Healing Boutique at (843) 958-2613.
