Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital in the Nation’s Top 100
Lowcountry hospital recognized as one of the highest performing hospitals in America

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Feb. 25, 2013)– Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital is the only Lowcountry facility to be named to the Truven Health Analytics 100 Top Hospitals list. This is the second consecutive year Bon Secours St. Francis, one of three Roper St. Francis Healthcare hospitals, has earned the distinction.

The annual list is compiled based on study results that analyze hospitals based on overall organizational performance. Hospitals are evaluated in 10 areas: mortality; medical complications; patient safety; average patient stay; expenses; profitability; patient satisfaction; adherence to clinical standards of care; and post-discharge mortality and readmission rates for heart attack, heart failure, and pneumonia.

“With more than 5,700 acute care hospitals in America, we are very pleased to be named to this list for the second consecutive year,” said Allen Carroll, CEO, Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital. “Our dedicated Board members, physicians and employed staff are committed to delivering the best clinical care possible, with the very best patient experience at the highest value. This recognition is motivating, but our patients are our real inspiration.”

Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital is consistently recognized for its superior performance. In 2012, the facility was hailed a Best Hospital by US News & World Report, commended for its patient safety by Consumer Reports and named to Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals list.

Truven Health evaluated 2,922 short-term, acute-care, non-federal hospitals. Researchers used public information such as Medicare cost reports, Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MedPAR) data, core measures, and patient satisfaction data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Hospitals do not apply this award, and winners do not pay to market this honor. See the complete list of Top 100 Hospitals here.
