BOOK 'EM NORTH CAROLINA Writers Conference and Book Fair "Buy a Book and Stop a Crook"

PRESS RELEASE

Lumberton, North Carolina has been selected as the site for the Book ‘Em North Carolina annual book fair and writers conference by The Book ‘Em Foundation. The purpose of the Foundation is to raise public awareness of the direct link between high crime rates and high illiteracy rates and to raise money for increasing literacy and reducing crime.

The inaugural Book ‘Em North Carolina event will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm at Robeson Community College. Approximately 75 authors are expected to participate in book signings, solo talks and panel discussions. Proceeds from the sale of their books will go directly into literacy campaigns and anti-crime measures in Lumberton and Robeson County.

The event is spear-headed by The Book ‘Em Foundation’s co-founder, Lumberton author p.m.terrell, The Friends of the Robeson County Public Library, Communities in Schools, Lumberton Visitors Bureau, the City of Lumberton and Robeson Community College.

Past Book ‘Em events in Virginia and New Hampshire have included bestselling authors Janet Evanovich, Jodi Picoult, Catherine Coulter, Ellen Hopkins, Cathy Maxwell and many others. This summer, the authors headlining this event will be announced.
