CrossFit Across Town

Turn downtown Charleston into your own personal gym for a Saturday morning of running, pull-ups and squats using historic landmarks as your guide. EatFit LiveFit + CrossFit Mt. Pleasant is hosting CrossFit Across Town at 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20. The event is free and open to the public and prizes will be awarded to the top finishers.

Participants will meet at Ansonborough Field across from the South Carolina Aquarium to embark on an hour-long workout around downtown. The activities involve running to the U.S. Custom House for a workout of pushups, pull-ups and running the stairs on the backside of the Custom House. Then participants will run the stairs of the city garage next to Custom House (yes, all six levels), pause at the top for jumping jacks and squats and then run back down the stairs.

Then it’s on to the Pineapple Fountain for lunges and abdominal exercises before running the 3 miles back to Ansonborough Field. Participants go at their own pace, although there will be people stationed along the way to provide direction and encouragement.

The top three finishers will receive prizes: first place gets two months (January and February) free at EatFit LiveFit + CrossFit Mt. Pleasant; second place gets the month of January free; third place gets two weeks in January free.

“So often people get into a fitness rut, so this is a great way to shake things up,” says Tina Whetzel, owner of EatFit LiveFit + CrossFit Mt. Pleasant. “And it’s a chance for people to get a taste of CrossFit, which is a full body workout that changes each day.”
