Free Breast Screenings at Bon Secours St. Francis

Roper St. Francis Cancer Care again offers free screenings to the community

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Jun. 7, 2012) – Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital will host a night dedicated to good breast health on Thursday, Jun. 28 from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Ambulatory Surgery unit.

Breast cancer is currently the most common non-skin cancer among women in the U.S. If found early, cure rates are very high. Screening and early detection are critical in helping achieve the best outcome possible.

Women over the age of 20, that have not had a clinical breast exam within the last 12 months, are invited to attend the free screenings on Jun. 28.  All participants will receive clinical breast exams and mammogram assistance will also be available to those in need. Men are also welcome to receive a clinical breast exam.

The clinical breast exams will be administered by a number of board certified physicians: Paul Baron, MD; Chris Hawk, MD; Bo Blessing, MD; and Henry West, MD.

The screenings are supported in part by the Lowcountry affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Registration is required for the clinical breast exams. Call (843) 402-CARE (2273) to schedule an appointment for the screening.

Roper St. Francis is proud to be the medical services provider of the 2012 PGA tournament.
