Grassroots Meeting to Help Create Legislative Agenda

On Wednesday August 10, 2011 the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce will host the Coastal Grassroots Meeting at the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce from 12 – 1:30 p.m. in an effort to identify issues concerning the business community and to discuss the upcoming agenda for the 2012 legislative session.

The Coastal Grassroots Meeting is held every year and is the first step in developing the Competitiveness Agenda, the annual list of the business community’s legislative priorities. Attendees are invited to share their business concerns and provide feedback on what pro-business legislation needs to be passed to improve South Carolina's business climate. In addition, leadership from the South Carolina State Chamber will present legislative priorities for businesses across the state and discuss which issues are likely to be a focus.

Once issues are defined and strategies are developed, the Chambers works with legislative officials to create an environment that will improve the business climate in South Carolina. Time and again, the business community has seen the power of a unified grassroots network in pushing through vital issues and halting those that are harmful to the state’s business climate.

The cost is free to attend and open to the public. To register, visit www.scchamber.net or contact Julie Scott at 803-255-2628 or grassroots@scchamber.net.
