LOCAL AND NATIONAL ECO-FRIENDLY DESIGNERS TO DEBUT AT THIS YEARS CHARLESTON ECO FASHION EVENT!

The second edition of the Charleston Eco Fashion Event will kick off Saturday, April 21st at the Michael Mitchell Gallery from 7:00pm to 9:00pm with an impressive lineup of environmentally-friendly runway shows.  The event seeks to promote environmentally conscious trends in fashion and applaud and support designers who are shaping these trends.

The Charleston Eco Fashion Event 2012 designers will include local designer Caroline Baker(Label:Maude Couture),who will unveil her latest bridal collection, 2011 Charleston Fashion Week® Emerging Designer semi-finalist Hannalei Taylor (Label: 3Thimbles), established  eco-friendly designer duo Antonina Ramsey and Catherine Bello (Label: In Harmony), as well as a much-anticipated closing show and debut runway experience by Mallory Curlee with CurleeBikini.

"Many of the designers take a different approach to sustainability, with some opting to re-purpose or upcyle vintage pieces, while others are inspired by the idea of "slow fashion," which requires as much as possible to be made by hand and done in house in order to reduce the impact the pieces ultimately have on the environment.  Since the textile industry has been called one of the most toxic in existence today, these efforts are important for the future of fashion and they present consumers with a whole new way of thinking about what we wear and why," says Katie Kern, founder and producer of the Charleston Eco Fashion Event.

The Charleston Eco Fashion Event key sponsors include Circa PR, Cos Bar, Michael Mitchell Gallery, Paul Mitchell the School Charleston, Earth Fare, Ruth's House Event Rentals & Design and BarnFly Productions.  We are also proud to have Wink Magazine as the official media sponsor.
