Local Entrepreneurs to address CSU graduates

Charleston Southern commencement is Saturday

Charleston Southern University began the school year with record enrollment numbers. On December 19, the University will finish the semester graduating 280 students, 10 with perfect 4.0 grade point averages.

 
Diplomas for master’s students and bachelor of management arts and bachelor of technology degrees will be conferred at 10 a.m. in Lightsey Chapel Auditorium.
 
Billie Attaway will address the master’s graduates. Attaway founded Commercial Real Estate Capital, Inc. in 2007. He previously founded Employee Resource Management and Advanced Data Services.
 
Attaway has been named Entrepreneur of the Year and was twice listed on the Inc. 500 list, featuring the fastest-growing private companies in America. He is a member of the Charleston Southern Board of Visitors.
 
Mary Propes, CEO of MVP Group International, will address students receiving bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees at the 1:30 p.m. ceremony in Lightsey Chapel Auditorium.
 
MVP Group International is the parent company for numerous divisions, including Olde South Candle Company and Carolina Candle. Propes’ journey to international business woman began when she was a single mom trying to create jobs in a small, economically depressed Kentucky county.
 
Today MVP, headquartered in Charleston, is the largest private label candle company in the world, and is in multiple businesses including textiles, marble and granite fabrication and is part of the group that just bought Eclipse jet.
 
Propes currently employs six Charleston Southern graduates and serves on the University’s Board of Visitors. She is a firm believer that God uses every day, ordinary people, and His timing is always right.
