Magdalene House of Charleston to Receive $5,000 from RPWB as Part of its ‘Ten Months of Giving’ Campaign

Richardson, Patrick, Westbrook & Brickman, LLC (RPWB) announced today a donation of $5,000 to Magdalene House of Charleston. The two-year residential and outreach program provides help for hundreds of women in the Tri -County Area previously living on the street or trapped in a cycle of addiction and abuse.

The donation was made as part of RPWB’s “10 Months of Giving” campaign, an initiative to give $55,000 to area charities over 10 months in celebration of the firm’s 10th anniversary.

At the Magdalene House, screened applicants, many who are victims of neglect, poverty, and early childhood sexual and physical abuse, are invited to stay in a structured two-year program. The program offers a chance for recovery from addiction and the opportunity for safe, permanent housing. The Magdalene House depends entirely upon volunteer assistance, donations, grants and fund-raising.

RPWB Member and Business Manager Jay Ward said, “Ten years of helping clients locally and nationwide is a significant milestone for us, and we want to do something that not only celebrates this milestone, but also celebrates our community.”

RPWB will give $5,000 to one local charity monthly through September.  During October – the tenth month of the campaign, community members will have the opportunity to vote on RPWB’s Facebook page for their favorite charity of the nine previous recipients. The charity that receives the most Facebook votes will receive an additional $10,000 from RPWB.

Previous recipients of a $5,000 donation include The Greater Savannah River Community Foundation, WINGS for Kids, SC Aquarium Sea Turtle Hospital, The Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation and Share our Suzy.
