Mexican ID operation in North Charleston draws ire, rebuttal

The scenario is this: The Mexican Consulate for the Carolinas regularly visits North Charleston, using the Convention Center to provide Mexican citizens with identification and passport services.
And that is drawing the rage of anti-illegal immigrant protestors that say the program aids only those who've come to the USA illegally — but supporters say the action makes the community safer for all, helping to track down foreign law offenders and reducing simple robbery crimes.
