Shadow Day at the South Carolina Aquarium

Young Adults: Improve your deep blue IQ through the new shadow program at the South Carolina Aquarium! The shadow program, designed for students in grades six to 12 offers the opportunity for youth to observe some of the jobs that keep an Aquarium flowing – like aquarist, educator or mammal behaviorist. Students interested in applying for the February 21 Shadow Program need to complete the application process by February 14, 2011. Application Deadline: February 14, 2011 for the February 21 Program To apply, students must: 1) Complete an application form which can be found at www.scaquarium.org/education/youthshadow 2) Write a 300-word essay describing why they are interested in participating and what they hope to gain from their time at the South Carolina Aquarium. 3) Secure a letter of recommendation from an adult, non-family member, preferably a current teacher. 4) Submit the form, essay and recommendation in an envelope to: Shelley Dearhart Education Programs Instructor South Carolina Aquarium 100 Aquarium Wharf Charleston, SC 29401 Parents will be contacted by phone or email one week before the Shadow Day to notify them if their child has been accepted to participate in the program.
