New life has been breathed into the chronically stalled $155 million "Horizon Redevelopment Project" near the Joseph P. Riley baseball stadium, which since 1998, has been rumored to become Charleston's newest mixed-use community.

Backed by MUSC, SCRA and the City of Charleston, the Horizon Project aims to be Charleston's first research-oriented urban infill project. As a research-oriented mixed-use district, it will continue the City’s commitments to bringing significant new economic development, financial investment and job creation.

Kristin B. Walker of Charleston InsideOut, a trusted source in the local real estate scene, has the inside scoop (and a rendering) on the recently revived plans to move forward with the Horizon Project.

The City of Charleston has also made a presentation on the project available online. It contains additional graphics and fleshes out the concept plan; check it out
