Watson Hill tract annexation finalized

North Charleston has established the land across the Ashely River off of S.C. Highway 61, ending the Waston Hill annexation.

In June 2005, North Charleston City Council voted to annex five vacant plots of land in Dorchestor County, an area covering more than 7,000 acres. After legal opposition and a portion of the case being heard by the South Carolina Supreme Court, the dispute has ended, with the land becoming official territory of the city. The property has the potential of housing approximately 4,000 homes.
