Join us in celebrating National Tea Day in the Birthplace of Sweet Tea, for a free, family-friendly celebration and Guinness Book adjudication. On June 10, the residents of Summerville, SC are setting out to shatter the Guinness Book of World Records for World’s Largest Sweet Tea. With the help of local support from The Charleston Tea Plantation, Dixie Crystals, Scout Boats, and KION North America, the 10-foot tall mason jar holding 1,400 gallons of locally brewed sweet tea will go down in history. The Record Smashing Tea Party will take place outside of Town Hall (200 S. Main Street) from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Brewing of the tea will begin in the morning, and it will be ready for consumption by the early afternoon. Admission is free to the public; commemorative mason jars can be purchased for $5. Food vendors will incorporate sweet tea into their menus, and the event will take place rain or shine.
