Registrations open for the first youth camp 2017, by Charleston Battery

Charleston battery has announced the dates for its first youth camp for the year 2017 at MUSC Health Stadium: April 10-13.

This is the first camp off the 2017 camp series presented by Lloyd’s Soccer.

The camp program structure is revamped under the direction of Temoc Suarez (who is the former MLS, U.S. youth international and Futsal National Team Player). Suarez is directing these camps each year for over a decade. He passionately devotes his time and efforts in growing the game of Soccer in this area. Along with his training staff, Suarez has been focusing on teaching technical game skills to each individual player. They continue to develop coaching curriculums appropriate for different age groups and skill levels.

Apart from his extensive coaching experience at these camps, Temoc is among the most decorated soccer players to have ever emerged from South Carolina. He played in MLS for three years with the Dallas Burn before he moved to the USL, NPSL, and MISL. He also played one season for the Charleston Battery, where he scored five goals in 25 games.

Mike Anhaeuser, the Head Coach and General Manager at Charleston Battery said, “We are lucky to have Temoc Suarez as the Camp Director for such a long time. He brings in great learning and fun atmosphere at the camp. Temoc and his staff are fantastic at their job of building fundamental skills which helps the kids excel as they progress in their careers.”

Participating at these camps under the guidance of Temoc Suarez, a child gets to learn the physical, technical and tactical aspects of the game on multiple levels. Their young brain develops at a much faster rate under the training of these professionals than learning the game with a local trainer.

Not only these camps offer technical advantages, there are even more psychological advantages. With the increasing influence of indoor gaming options, kids spend their precious learning age in front of screens. Their young brains are not able to differentiate professional sports from playing sports games at muchgames.com online or at their gaming consoles. If a child gets a chance to play with professional players and other kids of their skill level, they will learn more and love the experience forever.

Child psychology experts have always recommended playing outdoor and with nature for kids (e.g. hiking, camping, playing team games) where they get a chance to interact, socialize and compete in real world. A research found that children who had more natural day-care setting (like these sports camps) had better motor coordination and could concentrate better (Wells, 2000).

The spring break camp is open for both boys and girls aged between 5 and 14. Registration is now open and can be completed online. The half-day camp run from 9 am -12 pm and cost $150. The full-day camps run from 9 am - 3 pm including lunch and cost $245. For parents registering their kids prior to 21st of this month, there is a discount of $20.

All participating kids would get a private stadium tour, a ticket to a Charleston Battery home game, a discount coupon to the Pro Shop and autographs from Charleston Battery players.
