Senator Rand Paul to give Greater Issuess Address at The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), will address The Citadel’s Corps of Cadets on Nov. 12, 2013, at 11:15a.m., at McAlister Field House which is located on campus at 171 Moultrie S., Charleston, S.C., 29409. The Greater Issues Series presentation will last approximately 40 minutes and will be followed by questions from cadets.

Dr. Paul and his family live in Bowling Green, Ky., where he owned his ophthalmology practice and performed eye surgery for 18 years. Paul grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas and attended Baylor University. He graduated from Duke Medical School in 1988, where he later completed his residency in ophthalmology. Paul founded the Southern Kentucky Lions Eye Clinic, an organization that provides eye exams and surgery to needy families and individuals. Currently, as a U.S. Senator, Paul continues to provide pro-bono eye surgery to Kentuckians in need of care. He has been an advocate for term limits, a balanced-budget amendment, a Read the Bills Act, and an audit of the Federal Reserve.

The Greater Issues Series was founded in 1954 to engage cadets’ interest and knowledge in important topics of the day. Since it was established, the series has brought presidents, heads of state, scholars, diplomats, journalists and distinguished business and military leaders to Charleston and The Citadel. The Greater Issues Series is made possible by a grant from The Mills Lane Memorial Foundation.

This event is not open to the public due to seating capacity limitations.
