South Carolina Nonprofit Association Awarded $10,000 from Duke Energy Foundation

Charleston, SC – The South Carolina Association of Nonprofit Organizations (SCANPO) received a local community grant of $10,000 from the Duke Energy Foundation on behalf of Duke Energy. The grant was awarded to SCANPO for their community service, nonprofit leadership and nonprofit work force development across the state of S.C.

“We are honored to receive this generous donation from the Duke Energy Foundation,” said Madeleine McGee, president of SCANPO. “With this, we will be able to continue the mission of serving thousands of South Carolina nonprofit and philanthropic organizations through service, leadership and caring.”

Local community development grants are offered to nonprofit organizations whose programs and missions support one of the Duke Energy Foundation’s four investment priorities—education, economic and work force development, environment and community impact.

“We are excited to partner with such an established entity as SCANPO,” said Amanda Dow, South Carolina lead of the Duke Energy Foundation. “The Foundation is focused on supporting capacity-building among our nonprofit organizations in an effort to create strong and more strategic services and programs for our communities.”

The Foundation funds more than $25 million in charitable grants across the U.S. Duke Energy is currently serving customers in 28 counties in S.C.
