Summer of Surf comes to Folly

If you've been looking for an excuse to go surfing, you finally have it. Friday (June 20th) is International Surfing Day. This unofficial, official surfers' holiday was created to bring attention to both surfing and the state of beaches and oceans.

In observation of the day, the Southern South Carolina District of the Eastern Surfing Association will "Summer of Surf" celebration on Folly Beach on Saturday and Sunday at The Washout, starting at 8 a.m. each day (a schedule is available).

Contestants will receive a t-shirt, and trophies will be awarded Sunday afternoon at The Conch Restaurant (map).
