2011 has been an incredible year for the Family Circle Cup, and it may have something to do with Charleston being named "Best Tennis Town in America."

The Family Circle Cup is one of the nation's top women's pro tennis tournaments, and it brought over 94,000 attendees to Charleston this year, the tournament's 39th year. Also, the FCC increased its television viewership by over 45%.

Tournament Director Bob Moran said, “The Family Circle Cup is a great asset to Charleston; besides its economic impact, it showcases our city and state on a national and international platform. More than 200 hours of global broadcast time was seen on ESPN2 in the United States, as well as throughout Europe, Asia, South America, the Middle East, Australia and a variety of additional nations around the globe.”
