Seven-year-old Thayne Hayes of Summerville is heading to Akron, Ohio this week to compete in the 34th National Derby Rallies Soap Box Derby National Championship.

Thayne is currently ranked ninth out of about 100 racers in the Nation Derby Rallies division for ages seven to 13. And, at seven years old, Thayne already has two years of racing experience under his belt.

Here's hoping little man brings home a first place trophy!
