Shelby Rogers, a 17-year-old from Daniel Island, has been granted The Family Circle Cup's first Qualifying Wild Card of the 2010 event.

This will make for Rogers' Sony Ericsson WTA Tour debut at the Charleston event.

Rogers is currently the No. 926 ranked player in the world, and the 73rd ranked US player on the WTA Tour. She has notched a 6-4 ITF career record, posted earnings of $1,029 to date, and holds 11 Tour ranking points.

Here's more about Rogers' career and her excitement on the upcoming stint at the Family Circle Cup:

Roger’s 2009 ITF highlights include reaching the semifinals in Girl’s 18s division at the $10,000 Costa Rica Bowl/ITF (San Jose, Costa Rica) and a $10,000/ITF event (Veracruz, Mexico), quarterfinals in Girl’s 18s division at both the Easter Bowl/ITF (Rancho Mirage, California) and a Missouri $10,000/ITF event (St, Joseph, Missouri).

“We have been aware of Shelby Rogers’ incredible talent since her earliest years when she was involved in Family Circle Tennis Center junior development programs,” said Eleanor Adams, Family Circle Cup Tournament Manager. “We are happy to give her the opportunity to play against the best players in the world.”

“I’ve dreamed of competing at the Family Circle Cup since I first attended the tournament in 2001,” commented Shelby Rogers. “I’m so excited to play in my first Sony Ericsson WTA Tour event, and I really look forward to having my friends and family in the stands to cheer me on.”
