Cougars lose to Elon, miss out on NCAA tourney

UPDATE: The College of Charleston was not selected for the NCAA baseball tournament, bringing an end to their season.

After losing to Elon 17-8 in the Southern Conference Championship, the C of C Cougars are hoping for an at-large bid to the NCAA baseball tournament. The Post and Courier reports:

Before the Southern Conference Baseball Tournament began, Charleston coach John Pawlowski said he wanted the Cougars to win it and leave no doubt about making the NCAA playoffs.

And while there's no doubt the Cougars played well, a 17-8 loss to Elon in the championship game Sunday at Riley Park leaves Charleston's fate uncertain.

The bids will be announced today at 12:30 p.m. on ESPN. We'll let you know what comes out of it. You can also check out this photo gallery from the SoCon championship at Charleston.net.
