Four years on, a memorial 5K: The Run for the Nine (update: post-event video)

Update June 12: The memorial 5K was held on Saturday with nearly double the expected turnout.

First reporting: Run for the Nine - Memorial 5K will take place on Saturday, June 11th, at the Joe Riley Stadium (360 Fishburne St.) and is to honor the memory of the nine fallen firefighters who passes away during the Sofa Super Store Fire on June 18th, 2007.

The run's right around the corner, but the registration deadline has been extended--now you can register until Friday, June 10th. Individuals can register for $25; teams can do so for $125.

Gates open at 7 a.m., and the run begins at 8 a.m. All proceeds from the Run for the Nine event will go towards the Charleston Nine Memorial Project.
