Sunday Brunch Republic-Style Begins September 1

Charleston’s brunch scene is about to gain a serious contender in the “best of” category, as Republic Garden & Lounge preps to debut its first daytime menu on Sunday, September 1. 

Under the direction of Executive Chef Benjamin Harris, Republic’s take on brunch literally takes on preconceptions about the meal. “We think there’s room in town for a lighter touch at brunch, so we went for healthy, fresh and easy ways to kick off your Sunday.”

It all starts with the Republic Honey Biscuit with Fleur de Sel butter, an addictive treat that can be attributed squarely to Chef Harris’s grandmother, a classic Southern cook whose culinary skills he observed throughout his life.

Of special note: Breakfast Charcuterie and Cheese featuring a rotation of house made breakfast meats (duck prosciutto and pork belly rillettes, among them) and Artisan cheeses. Hash with marinated pork secreto, crispy potatoes, greek yogurt hollandaise and slow poached egg or “Compressed” Melon Salad with duck prosciutto are bound to be big hits. Scrambled Eggs featuring house made chive crème fraîche also contribute to the breakfast menu.

Those more inclined to lunch at brunch will find Republic’s popular bar menu in full bloom. Among the choices: Wagyu Sliders with grilled radicchio, bourbon pickled shallot and cambazola cheese, as well as Lettuce Wraps featuring choice of grilled shrimp, duck confit or marinated chicken with fresh kimchi and house made ponzu sauce.

Because no trip to Republic is complete without music, expect live performances on the patio each Sunday. Special drinks will include a Belvedere Bloody with Charleston Mix, Frozen Mimosa with various floater options available, a special Continental Breakfastconcoction(made with Stoli Rasberry or Damrak Gin, Bols Yogurt liquor, Barenjager, OJ and ginger), the ReHydrator (Effen Cucumber, St. Germain, coconut water, cucumber, lemon) and“Spritz” cocktail specials.
