CHARLESTON, S.C. –This spring The Citadel School of Business will host the fifth annual "Citadel Directors' Institute." The continuing education program is designed exclusively for the corporate directors and executives of public and private companies. Business leaders will connect and discuss emerging issues and best practices in board oversight. The Citadel Directors' Institute is one of few programs of its caliber to be hosted in the Carolinas; most are held in much larger cities including Chicago, New York, and San Francisco.
The one day program will take place May 2, 2014, from 8a.m. – 4p.m. at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston's historic district. Attendees will participate in discussions about risk management, strategic planning, board governance and regulatory developments impacting companies today. Presenting sponsors include Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, LLP, and Elliott Davis, which is one of the largest accounting, tax and consulting services firms in the region.

Some of the speakers include former Delaware Supreme Court chief justice, Myron Steele; Bill Bojan, president & CEO for Integrated Governance Solutions; and the executive director of The Conference Board Governance Center, Donna Dabney. Brigadier General Harvey W. Schiller, USAF Ret., Ph.D., (seen right) will give the keynote address. He is chairman of Schiller Management Group (SMG), a global consulting and business solutions company, as well as chairman of Renew Merchandise, a producer of RPET merchandise. In addition, Schiller serves as vice chairman of Diversified Search, one of the top executive search firms in the U.S. In recent years he was also chairman of Global Options Group and vice chairman of America's Cup 34.
