Abduction leads to arrests and police alarm

On Sunday night, two men wearing U.S. Marshals-style clothing stormed into Ignacio Gamez's home and abducted him. Hours later his family would receive a ransom notice.

The Post and Courier has the story of this highly unusual case, saying part:
Over the next 27 hours or so, North Charleston police worked to secure his safe return in an investigation that sprawled across several counties and involved a host of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Authorities finally got their break with the arrest of three people late Monday. ...

"We're going to go at this full steam ahead," Police Chief Jon Zumalt said. "We're not going to have people coming into our community abducting folks and holding them for ransom."

Three people have been arrested, with more arrests expected to be forthcoming.

It's a fascinating and alarming story for the Lowcountry, go read it.
