Port of Charleston's leader makes hasty exit

The chief executive of the S.C. State Ports Authority is leaving the agency -- immediately.

Bernard S. Groseclose, Jr. Bernard S. Groseclose, Jr. Despite the hasty exit, Bernard Groseclose insists his departure is voluntary.

Groseclose told The Charleston Regional Business Journal: "I think everybody ought to have fun and enjoy what they are doing or look for something else. I wanted to find something else of value to do."

Last week I pointed out a story that said Groseclose was close to being forced out for the ports shrinking numbers and loss of its biggest client.
