Clemson football's head coach, Tommy Bowden, has announced he's stepping down. The news comes after Clemson's once-lofted season expectations have all but crashed and burned.
Dabo Swinney is serving as the new interim head coach.
But don't cry for Bowden, he'll be paid as usual until November 30, at which point his $3.5 million buyout contract kicks in. Cha-ching.
In other poor news for Clemson: It also looks like offensive coordinator Rob Spence is on his way out, and star recruit DeVonte Holloman has de-committed from Clemson in favor of USC.
For more details, I suggest hopping over to ESPN for their write-up.
Update October 14: There's a good postmortem on the Bowden resignation by Ken Burger over at The Post and Courier that wraps up the once-lauded coach's fall from grace, at least in the Clemson faithful's minds. Go read it.
