Extreme budget cuts affecting mentally ill in South Carolina

South Carolina's mental health budget cuts are the third highest in the nation--and mentally ill South Carolinians are feeling its effect.
According to the report "State Mental Health Cuts: A National Crisis," which was released last week by the National Alliance on Mental Illness, South Carolina lawmakers cut funding 23% (which translates to roughly $1.8 billion) between 2009 and 2011 related to mental health services.
