I-95 in Hampton County closed (UPDATE: Open again)

Interstate 95 is currently closed at Mile Marker 34 in Hampton County, in both directions. The S.C. Highway Patrol's Web site is reporting the closure has been active sine 1:31 p.m.

Earlier Live 5 News had reported that the condition may be due to a fear that a car may contain explosives.

The Highway Patrol is currently assisting with traffic management, and Hampton Country Sheriff's Department is handling the car.

We have a call into officials and are awaiting confirmation.

Update February 25, 4:40 p.m: Looks like a man from New York City was stooped and that he became unstable -- authorities feared he may have had explosive and a bomb dog sniffed explosives.

Savannah's WSAV 3 is your best bet for more at the moment.

Update February 25, 4:47 p.m: Traffic is once again flowing. It's reasonable to expect traffic to still be heavy for the near term.
