¡Habla ingles!
That's what a new pre-filed bill is aiming to get across.
Charleston senator and President Pro Tempore Glenn F. McConnell is, again, pushing for legislation that limits how the state can prepare materials in a non-English language. -- Essentially, everything coming from the state would be English-only unless there are special circumstances.
English is already the official language of the Palmetto State.
This is not the first time McConnell pushed for a bill like this (with the support of other Senate members), a nearly identical measure died in committee last year.
McConnell represents District 41, which occupies the West Ashley and Johns Island areas of Charleston County (get a big map).
