The lowdown on Charleston's parking meters

ABC News 4 has some surprisingly useful tips on the city's rules when it comes to parking meters and city garages in downtown Charleston.
Read more stories on this subject in our parking topic page. You can save more than a few pennies by getting one of the city's "Smart Cards" a sort of debit card for parking meters.
And one thing News 4 didn't cover was how you can often find free spots in the residential neighborhoods, just remember not to park in front of a driveway (they often blend in) and don't park over the one or two hour time or you face a nasty $44 ticket.
Also, here's a map of the city's parking garages.
