Travelers find common ground at the NotSo Hostel

Believe it or not, downtown Charleston's NotSo Hostel isn't simply the only hostel in the Lowcountry, but the entire state of South Carolina.

Opened in 2002 by College of Charleston graduate Claire Cunningham, the big white house on Spring Street is the only place where low-budget travelers can kick off their shoes and catch some Zz's. After Cunningham's backpacking adventure around the United States, she saw a dire need for such a place and the NotSo Hostel was born.

Though the hostel has changed ownership since it's conception, it is still operating on the solid basis of trust and community.
