Author and whisky guru Hans Offringa is in town for a series of four events to introduce Charleston to his new book, "Whisky and Jazz."

The book is about "ten classic jazz pieces and how the music resonates perfectly with some of Scotland’s most tasteful single malts."

We were intrigued, and videographer Nate Mallard dropped by the first event at King Street Kitchen Company to shoot a little video. Watch it above.

Here's a bit more about Offringa, from the event's Web site:

Hans Offringa is an internationally renowned whisky connoisseur and established author. He started his whisky career at age 18 and studied with many of the industry's biggest names, among them Michael Jackson, Charles MacLean, Jim Rutledge (Four Roses), George Stone (Jack Daniels) and Jimmy Russell (Wild Turkey). He has both written and translated many books on the subject resulting in an impressive list of publications. For his research, Hans has visited numerous distilleries in Scotland, England and the USA and interviewed scores of experts in the whisky industry.
