Chanticleers top Big South preseason poll again

As has been the case since Joe Moglia took over as head coach and vaulted Coastal Carolina football back to the top of the Big South, the Chanticleers are again considered the team to beat in the conference.

That according to the coaches and media as the league’s preseason poll was unveiled Thursday morning during Big South media days.

The Chants received 15 of 21 first-place votes and tallied 139 points in the preseason poll to claim the top spot for the third year in a row, while Liberty garnered the other six first-place votes and finished second with 129 points.

Additionally, senior quarterback Alex Ross was voted the Big South’s Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, which came as no surprise after he claimed the regular season award last fall.
