Developers ask for delay of vote on elevated crosswalk across Ocean Boulevard

A scheduled vote on four ordinances regarding a proposed new resort on Ocean Boulevard – including allowing an elevated skywalk – were continued to a future meeting at the developers request, Myrtle Beach officials said.

Developers of the new, as yet unnamed, hotel have requested an elevated crosswalk to help guests to get from their oceanfront rooms at 17th Avenue North to amenities across the street. The hotel would be in place of the Palmetto Shores Oceanfront Resort.

But the proposal has been met with resistance from several area residents and some council members who think allowing the walkover would set a bad precedent.
