•  The game | Throughout the week, Myrtle Beach football fans have started to prepare for the fact that standout quarterback Drayton Arnold may be shelved for Friday’s game with a thumb injury. He was sporting a cast during practice this week, and even if he is somehow able to play there will be questions about his ability to grip the ball. But as Myrtle Beach has shown in the past, the Seahawks are not a one-player team. Backup quarterback Jake Deskins – who had been playing a backup tight end spot all season – calmly entered last week’s game and went 7-of-7 for 111 yards. For his career, Deskins is 30-of-44 for 414 yards and 6 TDs. Maybe most importantly is the fact that he’s thrown just one interception. The senior will have plenty of targets, and he was easily throwing passes 45 yards in the air during Monday’s practice. So with or without Arnold, Myrtle Beach should have a shot at defending Doug Shaw and moving on in the playoffs.
