Former Coast RTA general manager charged with shoplifting in Myrtle Beach

The former Coast RTA CEO was arrested Valentine’s Day on a shoplifting charge in Myrtle Beach, according to authorities.

Myers Rollins Jr., 62, was charged with first-offense shoplifting after officers were called about 5 p.m. Saturday to Wal-Mart at 541 Seaboard St., police said.

Rollins was fired April 30, 2014, as the Coast RTA general manager after controversy regarding his handling of a bus shelter and sign program. In June, Rollins sued county and state officials for his termination and the projects. That lawsuit is pending.

In the police report, Rollins is listed as being unemployed.
